Take Some Time Off.

With summer around the corner and a year of holding our breath to be able to hug family again and be around people, we want to remind everyone to take their paid time off.

In 2019, 768 million US vacation days went to waste and that number is on the rise perpetuating less quality work and employee burnout.

According to Adam Grant, research shows that shorter, more frequent vacations, such as a three-day weekend, are more restful than a larger stint of time, such as two weeks.

Create a company culture of excitement around vacation and living your life outside of work.

  1. Lead by example. Take time off and when you are out of office stay disconnected from your email and work calls. No one appreciates when  someone who says they are going to be out and then micro-manages from afar. It removes  trust you have in  those relationships.

  2. When someone else takes time off, ask  how you can support them leading up to their time off and while they are away. This builds  rapport and a culture of “safety netting”, meaning people have one another's backs.

In order to show up innovative and whole at work, we need time away to re-center around our personal values and just rest. We are human beings, not human doings.

Take your paid time off. Plan ahead. And note it’s time to take that weekend trip to the nearest body of water you have been thinking about during winter…
